Planting, Ellie's New Hat, and a Fire

In our new giant backyard, by popular demand, we decided to plant some corn. Matt plowed a large section (roughly 15x10 ft) and the boys all helped plant the corn.

Initially they were planted in careful rows, by the end the kids were throwing seeds in at random and then pushing them down into the soil. I look forward to seeing what actually grows.

In the fashion section of our blog, Ellie has decided to go thoroughly modern and eco friendly with this fabulous pasta and pepper hat. See what you think...fashion hit or miss? We vote hit.

We bought a fire container, and decided to have a fire in the backyard. The kids got really into it. Liam brought a ukulele out. He began singing "She'll be coming 'round the mountain". The boys each took turns strumming tunelessly on the ukulele and belting out songs. Miles sang the theme song from "David the Gnome" and Ian sang the song from "Fantastic Mr. Fox" about Bogus, Bounce and Bean.

Ellie was put to bed prior to starting this fire. We all hung out enjoying the warmth of the fire and the kids voted it a huge success. It will definitely be a repeat experience and I consider the money invested in the fire container; money well spent.
