Three Explorers Go to the Waco Zoo

This last Saturday Matt was working...again. We decided to take advantage of the mild morning and drive the 70 miles up to Waco for a trip to the zoo. The boys were super excited about going and naturally had to dress the part. Thanks to our Grand Canyon trip and a push over Maga they're totally equipped with explorer vests.

Ian frequently posed for me. "Hey mom, take my picture!" The result is, several adorable shots of Ian. The boys were so excited to get to the zoo. We haven't been in about six months, and it was like a brand new zoo to them.

Liam had his rifle and shot an awful lot of meat for dinner. I'm starting to suspect that he was more of a "game" hunter than a "feed my family" hunter. By the end of our trip; I don't think there was a single living animal left.

Miles loves the fish at the zoo. He gets excited about every single one.

Ian-"Hey mom, take my picture so the Jaguar is eating me. Did you take it? I'm silly right mom?"

One of the zoo keepers had out a ferret that the kids could touch. Ian was enthusiastic. Miles was nervous. Liam was indifferent and had left before I could even take Ian's picture.

As we approached the giraffe enclosure there was a zoo keeper asking kids if they wanted to feed the giraffe. As soon as Ian grabbed a piece of lettuce and fed it to the giraffe; he announces that it's three dollars. Being a cheapskate mom...we quickly left. But really! Who sits and invites kids in and then tries to charge them money after wards.

Ian-"Hey mom, take my picture!"

Ian jumped on a horse, "Mom take my picture!". Then announced "Yee-haw!"

Miles who imitates everything Ian does then says, "Mommy take my picture! Yee-haw!"

We had a great 2.5 hours at the zoo. The temperature stayed in the low 80's which is nothing short of miraculous for a Texas June. We stopped at chick-fil-a on the way home. Somehow the kids still had energy to run around and play in a playground. As a bonus though, Miles crashed on the way home. It was a great way to spend our Saturday. I sure adore my three little monkey boys!
