For a few days of Spring Break we decided to take a trip down to Saint George. My sister Claire and my parents were down there as well. Our little family stayed in Ingrid's Saint George town home. We love going down to Saint George and the weather was wonderful. We decided to spend a day at Snow Canyon.
We went on an extremely short hike that was very suitable for such small children as Ellie and Paul. The older boys didn't mind taking it easy either.
The kids liked the narrow little canyon at the end of this "hike". All of them started shouting into it to try and make it echo.
All of the kids were fairly fascinated by the red sand and the warm sun. For quite some time they rolled around in the red sand dunes, taking off their shoes and socks, and digging their toes deep into the soft sand. Miles wanted a bottle of it to take home.
Matt is the adult who mainly played with the kids. Claire was busy with her baby and mom and I spent our time talking.
After enjoying the gorgeous weather and clean air in Saint George the thing I talked the most about was my desire to buy a vacation home in Saint George. That evening we had dinner at our borrowed vacation town home and watched UHF. The kids LOVED this and laughed pretty hard especially at the part when poodles were learning how to fly.
We spent some time visiting the Saint George Temple grounds. Naturally there were some lovely weddings going on and the grounds were just beginning to flower and look lovely. My favorite thing are the palm trees.
The Saint George temple is one that some of my ancestors were sealed in and stands out amazingly against the red sandstone.
Before leaving the temple Matt asked the kids whether they wanted to visit a pioneer home or a museum. All of the kids voted for the museum. By museum Matt really meant Grandma Sanderson's house.
The kids were pretty willing to go there after all, and Grandma Sanderson had bought them some bubble wands to keep them busy and seemed really glad to see them. She gave them her coin jar too; which they always think is pretty great.
We left Saint George with a definite hankering to return. Despite the fact that Ian accidentally gave Miles a bloody nose we had a wonderful time and couldn't wait to go back.
Great pictures and best family fun.
