Once Upon A Time...: Ye Renaissance Faire With Claire

We love going to Renaissance Festivals. In Utah they are smaller, but SOOOO much cheaper. We'll take the trade. All the kids dressed up which is always fun for me. Ellie even picked out her own princess dress.

This year they had large pirate boats that the kids could play on. This was a favorite of all the kids and they spent well over an hour playing on these.

Liam kept insisting on trying to climb through the port holes. We repeatedly tried to explain to him that he was simply too big. He started acting out Winnie the Pooh getting stuck at Rabbits. I'm glad he had fun.

Ellie was small but fearless. She was up and down stairs, scaling ropes, walking planks, and generally giving me a heart-attack.

My little sister Claire came with her two boys Paul and Laslo. They came up for a visit from Arizona and we thought they might enjoy the fair.

Paul and Ellie did NOT hit it off, but I suspect they will when they are both done being toddlers. Laslo was super adorable and I tried to keep him. For some reason Claire wanted him back.

All the boys knew they could spend about fifteen dollars on souvenirs. We ended up with spy glasses, pirate rings, cheap swords, and Liam got a turkey leg.

I gave Paul some money for a souvenir but quickly came to regret it because he bought a small flute that he repeatedly blew in my ear.

The kids all began play fighting which they thought was a fabulous past time. We feasted on funnel cakes covered in powdered sugar. I had to forcibly stop Ellie from just licking the top of the funnel cake. Then we enjoyed a rousing joust with our least favorite red neck jouster.

After the joust we found a petting area. Ellie who got a princess crown as her souvenir was in animal heaven. She went from one animal to the next petting them and had to be dragged out.
