Our first fourth of July back in Utah. We were excited to go to the local parade. It is just down the street from my parent's house. In Texas the parade was too far away and crowded so this was my kid's first parade since we moved. They really enjoyed it, despite the sun blaring in their eyes. Mostly they liked that people threw candy at you and they were allowed to wear pajamas.
Naturally as the parade progressed Miles and Ian rediscovered the "best friend"arms and affection. This appears whenever they are bored with only each other for company. It is both irresistible and adorable.
Another big first for us was sparklers. In Texas it was illegal to use sparklers or fireworks in our county as well as the neighboring ones. Here in Utah the boys all got to light up sparklers for the first time in six years. First time ever for Miles. They loved it, but I was a nervous wreck.
We also did fireworks in our drive way which the boys loved. They were a huge fan of all the loud shrieking brightly colored fire making fire works.
Even Liam had a great time. I was fairly nervous that he would deliberately light something on fire, but he didn't and all in all it went fairly well. The boys all got some treats and headed to bed satisfied that we had adequately celebrated the birth of our Nation's independence.
