Spring Break! Part IV: Miles Turns 3!!

For Miles third birthday we decided to go to a splash pad/park that was about ten miles away from Ian and Aimee's house in Mesa. After about ten seconds in the splash pad all the kids unanimously decided that the 80 degree weather was too cold for splash pads. They all gravitated towards the playgrounds and climbing areas instead.

Miles, Lani, Ian, Ethan, and Arianna had a lovely time scaling ropes, going down slides and playing like little monkeys. Liam and Anya were distressed that there was no swimming pool and too many people so they went back to Ian and Aimee's to swim in their pool.

There were lots of random play sets at this really awesome park. Ian and Miles explored every single one of them.

I'm not actually sure how this cement slide functions as a slide without also functioning as leg sandpaper but the kids seemed to enjoy it.

Of course Miles looked for every opportunity to play in the rocks.

Ian began climbing and posing to try and get me to take his picture as many times as possible. 

We know the park was a big success because Miles sobbed the entire way home afterwards and was desperate to stay and play. When we got back to Ian and Aimee's we had a Chick-Fil-A catered lunch (Miles is a fan of chicken nuggets.

We had a Despicable Me minion pinata that Miles loved. Uncle Ian had a good time taunting the children with it. The kids were especially thrilled every time he yanked it sky high at the last minute and they would miss.

We had a home made Perry the Platypus cake and then of course there were lots and lots of presents.

Miles had so many pieces of candy shoved in his mouth at once (hooray pinata candy) that his shirt was rapidly becoming covered in sucker drool. We stuck him in the tub, threw away any open candy, and hid the rest. Miles had a great birthday and I still haven't recovered from the shock that my baby is three years old.
