Spring Break! Part II: Relaxing at Fun Uncle Ian's House

Ever since the first Chipmunks movie came out, with David Cross playing the villainous “Fun Uncle Ian,” we have referred to my brother Ian as said fun uncle. After the whirlwind trek across Texas, New Mexico and a good portion of Arizona, we were ready for a nice relaxing time around Ian and Aimee’s pool. The night we got there, Ian and Aimee pulled out costumes and gifts for the boys, much to their delight. The weather was great and it was good to catch up with Ian and Aimee and their kids Ethan and Anya. It had been several years since we had last seen them all and it was Miles’ first time meeting any of them.

Here we are about midday hanging out by the pool. Anya loved a rendition of Slippery Fish while I swung her around in the water. Ian and Miles wanted a turn too. Liam and Miles occasionally entertained themselves throwing rocks into the pool.
 

After the rather chilly dip in the pool, the boys wanted to sit in the jacuzzi. Here they are warming up in the bathtub and playing with toys.

Here is an action shot with Ethan, Ian and Miles playing with an assortment of footballs and basketballs on the side of Ian's house. There was a little trampoline they climbed in and out of and enjoyed jumping around on too.

Ethan is enrolled in Tae Kwon Do and he had a session that evening. Aimee brought me and Ian to go watch him practice. Here he is practicing kicking.

Ian was a little upset he didn't get an opportunity to kick too, but we made up for it by getting him a gatorade.

After we got back, we found Ian had gotten back from work and so we pulled out Ethan and Anya's gifts we had brought with us. Anya tried on the princess dress we brought her and took Ethan with his bow and arrows and Liam and Ian with their bows and arrows and went shooting in a field up the street from Ian and Aimee's house.

We had a blast just loosing arrows off into the field and having the boys retrieve them. Even though Liam is a pretty good shot, he hates having to go look for his arrows after he has fired them. So after a while he started shooting them aimed at the ground so he only had to walk two feet to get them.

Later that evening while watching Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Ian and Aimee gave back and arm tickles to Liam and Anya. They were in sensory heaven.

We had a great time hanging out and relaxing and were looking forward to the next phase of our little adventure: The Grand Canyon.
