Officially Beginning Summer

Summer has officially started. During the last week of school, Lisa had the boys bring in candy cards to their teachers. They were really excited about it, primarily because they thought they would be eating it with their teachers. Ian’s year of preschool has been extremely beneficial and has helped him grow by leaps and bounds. Liam has also continued to surprise us by how much he has learned.

Lisa will be home with the kids this summer while she works on her capstone project for her Master’s degree and has enjoyed planning out her own school/craft sessions. Each week they will be learning about a different topic from bugs to ancient Egyptians to the weather. We also have a couple family trips planned, to Nauvoo and Sea World. But the highlight lately has been the opening of the pool. Here are a few pictures of the kids:

Liam has always taken well to water. The odd thing is how much he loves going under water. It used to scare us when he was younger. Liam has always had auditory sensitivity and Lisa and I think that he likes the quiet with his ears under the water, kind of like Daredevil and his tank he sleeps in.

Here is Liam after jumping in doing a cannonball that Lisa taught him.

Ian has gotten braver about the water. He still won't put his head under and refuses to go anywhere it's too deep for him unless he is clinging like a little barnacle to a grown-ups back. He does enjoy the shallow end and hopping around in the water.

The biggest transition has been Miles. He loves the water and has been inspired by Liam's cannonball dives. His new favorite game is to run and jump off the edge of the pool into the water. So, Lisa and I stand close to where he is and catch him so he doesn't sink like a stone.

The best part is how worn out the boys are after their pool adventures. Of course, we always are too.
