Day two we learned about ladybugs. After learning some fun facts we decorated marshmallows to look like ladybugs...sort of. The kids liked them though.
Day 3 was spider day. This day traumatized Ian. He enjoyed watching the little video clips of trapdoor spiders etc, but every-time he saw a spider afterwards he would scream for me to come kill it.
For our project we made some spiders which we then hung on the wall.
Day 4 we learned about butterflies. The boys loved this. For our art project we made hand print butterflies.
Liam saw his hand print and decided to fill in the holes with other colors.Ian decided to put a flower in the middle of his butterfly.
Miles looked at the hand prints he'd made and the paper plate paint pallet and decided to just paint the pallet.
Naturally the finished products were hung on the wall.
The last day of the week we learned about grasshoppers. For our art project we then made grasshopper hats.
They all liked these quite well. Ian even cried when Liam (laughing maniacally) ripped one of his antennas off.
On Saturday we had a Bug party to celebrate our week of learning. This well planned, organized, and exciting event included watching A Bug's Life while eating candy...yeah that it was it. Anyway, the boys seemed to like bug week and I look forward to actually doing history week in another week.
