It's hard for me to believe that my little man turned two years old on Wednesday the thirteenth of March. My goal in the morning was to keep the boys out of the house. So first thing in the morning we went over to Wal-Mart where we picked up a soccer ball and some ring pops. We indulged a few minutes of kicking and running around with the soccer ball, but had to cut it short because Miles kept weeping that it was his "sockey ball". We also couldn't convince Miles to just kick it. He wanted to run around carrying it saying, "Mine! My sockey ball!" After our exertions the boys were rewarded with their ring pops.
Later that evening, we had a Buzz themed birthday for Miles. I realized that the necessary frosting tip had been broken so I used a butter knife to frost the Buzz cake and luckily had a tip to outline it. Miles liked it and that's all that matters. We had breakfast for dinner per Miles request (it's his favorite).
We even managed a Buzz-riding-the-rocket candle that I thought was totally awesome. I don't know that Miles cared. We invited our missionaries over for Miles' party and it turns out that little boys never really grow up...their favorite dinner is breakfast as well.
Miles had his presents wheeled out on his brand new buzz power quad. Miles climbed right on and refused to get off. He drove it into the entertainment center and sat glued to his seat. We finally gave up trying to make him move and he opened his presents while sitting on it.
Miles other present was a full sized Buzz action figure identical to the one in the movies. He and Ian haven't stopped fighting over this Buzz. In fact at bedtime Ian kept sneaking out of his bed to steal the Buzz from Miles.
Grandma Jamie sent a new copy of Toy Story 3 (last copy got watched and scratched to death about a year ago) and a Toy Story 3 action figure pack. Miles obviously loves Toy Story.
Miles spent the rest of his birthday driving around the house in his power quad much to the other children's envy. Eventually Ian found a solution to his problem. He hopped on back and rode with Miles. Liam patiently waited and when his younger brothers went to bed he hopped on for his turn. If you want to see something really ridiculous it would be large gangling Liam riding around on a toddler power wheels. His knees went up to his ears and the engine groaned beneath his weight.
The boys went to sleep in record time. Miles had a great birthday and our whole family is so grateful that he's a part of our family.
That miles has such a beautiful smile! He is so handsome! I can't believe he's two. I love the very first picture where Ian is controlling the picture and holding Liam in the shot. Usually that's the oldest job, right Matt?
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you decorated that cake with a knife. It looks too good to be possible. Sounds like you had a great party!
ReplyDeleteLooks like he had a wonderful toy story day. Is he willing to share yet?
