A Halloween tradition in our family has long been the making of sugar/butter cookies shaped like ghosts, pumpkins, and bats, and then decorating them with copious amounts of sugar-laden toppings...and eating them, of course.
Once everyone had their fill, Miles and Ellie decorated the remaining cookies and put them in some Tupperware. Unfortunately, for Miles, who goes to public school, none of the cookies survived the next day, and he got home from school to many empty Tupperware containers...
We also made a new discovery this week, a little Mennonite store that sells really fabulous, delicious deli sandwiches recommended by Becky Welsh, a friend in our ward.
On Saturday, we got to go to the wedding of Matt's cousin Lucas and his fiancée Gabi. Matt's Uncle David officiated, and as a result it was humorous and delightful.
Matt managed to get both his grandparents to the wedding, and since they are both in their late 80's this was especially impressive.
After the wedding, there was a reception, with some music, food, and of course, cake.
It was nice to be there and support family. Miles was super mad that he had to miss the wedding due to a marching band quarter-final. However, his marching band placed fourth and will be able to move on to the semi-finals next Saturday. On the way home from the wedding, the kids and I stopped at Dairy Queen to fill in the corners that the reception food didn't quite fill.
