It is almost impossible for me to believe that Ian is ten. Yet here he is a smart, funny, charming (most of the time) ten year old boy. For his birthday he asked to go to the Classic Fun Center. This venue offers bounce houses, a skating rink, laser tag, and an arcade. We went a few days before his birthday on President's Day. Not only was there a President's day special, but there isn't any school.
The bounce house was a huge hit to every single kid. Liam lived in the square foam pit. Literally buried himself in it and didn't want to come out. Ellie fearlessly threw herself down gigantic slides and romped in bounce houses.
Per Ian's pleas he got a pair of roller blades for his birthday. I brought my roller blades and the two of use worked on his skills in the roller skating rink. The other kids brought scooters that they used.
We played laser tag twice. The first, the best time, was with just our family. It was Matt, Me, and Ellie against the boys. That was pretty fun. The next time I went in with Miles and Ian. Unfortunately a creepily competitive middle aged man and his teen age son went in with us. They repeatedly cornered the kids and shot them repeatedly. Ian cried. I wasn't happy. So I dried Ian's tears and took him to do some other fun activities.
We had a bunch of arcade tickets. Ian was given the majority of them to spend since he was the birthday boy. He picked out an inflatable sword and a fake mustache.
In addition to the roller blades Ian got some Sonic well decals...
and the newest diary of a wimpy kid. Not pictured here is his new diary, and super sonic stuffed animal/backpack.
Ian had a Mario and Luigi cake. He's really into video game characters right now.
We invited all grandparents over for cake and ice cream. Grandma Jamie gave Ian some snorkeling gear for our upcoming cruise and tae kwon do lessons for the year.
Maga gave Ian the world's biggest Minecraft Lego set.
At the end of the day Ian seemed to have enjoyed the day and had a happy birthday. What more can a parent ask.
