Yesterday was my official farewell at the Radiology Department at CRDAMC. They had a potluck and handed out plaques (there were five of us leaving). The best part was that Lisa and Ellie came in and were all dolled up. As difficult as it has been living here, it will be hard to leave the friends and acquaintances we have made here at Ft. Hood.
Lately, Lisa and I have been watching documentaries and docu-dramas. These are educational and allow us to watch them when the kids are around. One of the docu-dramas we had going was a BBC miniseries called Egypt, that covered some of the more sensational discoveries made in the 19th and 20th centuries. One of the episodes covered the discovery and excavation of Tutankhamen's tomb. The boys watched, enraptured, expecting Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon to be attacked as they enter the tomb. In fact, Liam jumped up when they whispered, "The tomb is intact! He's in there!" taking it literally that a "live" mummy was on the other side of the door. He ran out of the room, and only reluctantly agreed to come back to finish the episode only when he was reassured it was quite tame.
After they finished the show, the boys became obsessed with Egypt and tombs, even taking all the rocks in the garden to construct their own "tomb of the pharaohs." I snapped a picture, annoyed that Liam got hold of spray paint and used it on the rocks.
In other news, I will be clearing CIF next week (finally) and start the clearing brief next week as well. Here are a few pictures I have snapped over the last couple of weeks with Ellie on her changing table. Ellie likes to noisily fill her diaper during and after eating, but she really enjoys getting cleaned up afterwards. All you have to do is lay her down on the changing table and she starts smiling, (this in stark contrast to the boys who hated being changed and cried every time you took off their diapers.)
Ellie blowing bubbles.
Ellie freshly changed.
Ellie getting changed and having her pajamas put on.
