There is a right of passage in our family, since moving to Texas, and it's kind of a big deal. The defining moment in a young Sanderson boy's life is the moment they can walk, all on their own, to and from Central Texas College (CTC) campus. This campus is the location of the planetarium and is a little over a mile away. it means trekking through Kouma and Liberty village, across a long open field, across a small canal, and into the mighty dome that is the planetarium.
And it was our latest trip to watch Big Bird: One Sky at the planetarium where two year old Miles made his maiden voyage. Little Miles walked all the way there and back again.
There is of course the occasional botany and biology lesson along the way. This one consisted of fire ants and why it's a bad idea to step on their anthills.
Why the costumes? Well why not really.
Our little Miles is one tough little cookie. I recall his brother Ian making his maiden voyage about the same age. Our boys are sturdy.
Once at the planetarium the feeling of success and celebration is palpable. The boys enjoyed the show immensely and then walked home triumphantly. We celebrated by going out for lunch afterwards.
What are you going to do for excitement when you leave Texas and no more CTC. Wait you guys always find fun wherever you are. I love that about you. Never too tired to do a fun family activity which may include a very long treck. You are great parents.
